2nd quarter!!
This quarter I'd say was not too bad, although it had it's ups and downs I think we were all very busy and had lots to do. There was a lot of focus on holiday events, ISA, GT, yearbook and afterschool events too. With the 7th Grade GT coming in, working with a new group of people this quarter was difficult at first, that's normal, we still didn't know how we worked as one team but as we had meetings and cooperated, I learned more about them. Elthea and Mark are great. I love having them as part of period 3 GT because we all got along quick and understood all of our roles in the project! I loved meeting new people and getting to know them more through class time together and even things like family night. Speaking of which, I also made new experiences with events. We had family nights last quarter but this quarter we also had our first recognition night, curriculum night, and hosted an ISA! I also had my first and last turkey trot, which I can't say I'll miss because I was dying baking in the sun 🤯.. Overall, Ever since joining leadership I feel like time got faster loll, like I still can't believe that were done with first semester, I guess stuff does go by fast when your focus is on something other than the clock. Lots of responsibilities and there were times where the "Give up" thought crossed my mind but I'd say I persevered and have grown more than last quarter especially when it comes to education.
This quarter had lots of highlights but If I were to choose my most memorable one, It'd be having new people join the class. With this, there were a lot of adjustments. Yes, more responsibilities but also more people to contribute with in all that we do! As I mentioned earlier getting to know others is something I really enjoy, and with magic notes this quarter I feel like we were able to learn about one another and uplift one another. Another highlight was winter fair !! To be honest, I was looking forward to winter fair the whole year and being able to perform with some people in leadership was also great. We were there for each others backs and although it wasn't a perfect performance we worked hard and had fun. Another great thing about winter fair was the setup and being able to understand what goes on behind the whole event especially because I wasn't in leadership last year so it's like from different perspectives. For lowlights, I'd say that it's just on and off focus, there was a lot of stuff happening this quarter and when it came to my work it was either good enough to turn in or I actually put more thought into it. It all depended on how I felt that week which is obviously a problem. Another lowlight was there was so much drama and people not doing the bare minimum / being respectful. It's actually crazy how so much problems can start from something so little 😕😕.
The main lesson I learned this quarter is to persevere. There have been lots of road bumps run in this quarter, whether it be academically or socially, it's important that you think and look at the bigger picture to continue to grow from this. One example is grades and when it gets down, communication is key. Learning this lesson throughout this quarter is something valuable as it has led me to take a look at my habits in different lights and work to improve.
With all that's happened this quarter, something I am looking forward to next quarter is working on my yearbook pages. The pages I have assigned were winter fair and title page so they're later ones to be started compared to the other ones. Just thinking about it, it's pretty cool how our work is gonna be published and bought by students as a memory of this school year. So I have to produce quality work to make the yearbook worth it. Another thing I am looking forward to is beginning to focus on orientation, I know orientation is in 4th quarter but it just sounds super fun from first hearing about it at retreat. We're dancing around as Shrek characters I just know this is gonna be very memorable. I'm also excited to begin piecing together my character costume and learn all the choreography so it comes together. As someone who likes to create, I'm also looking forward to working with Leyla, Jewelyn, and Bianni on the slides ^_^.
