quarter blog

This quarter a lot went down. It was my first quarter ever in leadership so I was still learning as it went on and I also experienced a lot of firsts. When the school year began, schedule pickup continued for a couple more weeks past the one in summer and so we had to take a lot of ID pictures, pass out planners, and all that stuff. While this went on we also covered bio cubes a lot in our leadership periods through presentations and even making a mini version. Not only did we do this but we also had ISA, one of which I have went to. We've also had our first family nite, flag football, as well as the startup of the GT program. As the quarter drew closer to an end we began to focus on preparing for retreat more.

My highlights this quarter were experiencing firsts. I had a lot of highlights but the most important ones to me were being able to experience ISA, daily duties, and even family nite. I enjoyed ISA cross country because we got to see how the sports and competitions within schools functioned. I still remember when students from multiple schools gathered together to cheer for the remaining runner. For daily duties, music is a highlight of mine because I just love music and seeing some people in the courtyard be excited listening to it. Another highlight of mine is my period. I love working with them because of how uplifting they are and also though our group leader can be a bit much at times ( sorry janzen if you're reading this :P ), I know that he still cares for our learning and improvement. Advisory in general is just really fun and welcoming, I'm never afraid to approach one of my leadership peers or teachers for help. My lowlights this quarter would have to be flag football. I enjoyed the team ones more than the advisory but just in general it was so hot outside and it as difficult to get classes to listen especially ones filled with kids who just don't care. Another lowlight would have to be the fights that'd occur in class when it's taken too far, it just gets all sucky and irritating.

My lesson learned this quarter is that you really have to be on top of things and aware of your responsibilities. At the beginning of the quarter I think I was able to balance things but slowly I got lazy and I realized I have to be able to give my all to also give back to others. More specifically, this quarter I learned I'd need to persevere and think outside the box when it comes to certain situations.

Next quarter I am definitely looking forward to events like halloween dressout and winter fair because It'd be my first time helping out with those as I experienced them last year from a different view. I love winter fair and because of the differences in circumstances ( covid ) from this year and last, I'm excited to see the differences and similarities in set up. I am also looking forward to the new people joining leadership and GT because Eliscia, Tyler, and I get to be GT group leaders and cover more topics for the morning broadcast.
